Schechita, the Jewish traditional method of slaughtering animals for food, has been forbidden in the town of Bernascony, by order of the Municipal Council.
This is the first time in the history of Argentine that such action has been taken and it has aroused widespread resentment among the Jewish population.
The Jews are urged to take protest action and to bring the matter to the attention of the higher authorities, in an editorial which appears in the local paper, “Yiddishe Zeitung.”
