A report that 2,500 Jews, bound for settlement in Transjordan, will shortly arrive in Palestine aboard three steamers, is published today by the “Falastin” as part of its campaign of opposition to the proposed lease of Transjordan land to Jews.

While the entire Arab press in Palestine joins in the campaign of agitation against the lease of Transjordan land to Jews, the organ of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem is conspicuous by reason of its silence.

In this connection it is recalled that the Grand Mufti made a visit to Emir Abdullah and that on the heels of this visit Emir Abdullah issued his cancellation of the option granted to a Jewish company.

Lack of a quorum is the reason given for the sudden suspension of yesterday’s opening of the Transjordan Legislature.

The absentees, it is reported, were followers of the Emir, who thought it more convenient for him not to have any public discussion, for the present, concerning the land lease.
