Nazi Incitements Intensified As Election Day Approaches; Pages of Caricatures; Consternation of Jewi

With the approach of the German general election, fixed for March 5th, the fulminations and incitements are daily assuming an even more violent character than hitherto. Even the fact that Nazi papers like the “Angriff” and the “Voelkischer Beobachter” are now regarded as semi-official in character, does not deter them from engaging in agitation of the most irresponsible and dangerous sort.

Thus, the “Angriff” has published two pages of caricatures in connection with the election, accompanying them with captions such as “Jewish vampires” and “Jewish economics”. . One caption proclaims in heavy type, “The Jews are swindling our nation” and goes on to quote from one of Hitler’s statements: “Jews always were parasites!”

Further captions aimed at identifying anti-Semitism with the Nazi struggle against the Communists are devoted to expressions such as “Communism is a Jewish creation for enslaving the German people through Jewish high finance!” There are also a number of cartoons of a general character in furtherance of the widespread campaign opened in connection with the election, slogans such as “Cleanse the German Homeland of the Jews”, “The New German History as seen by the light of Jewish fraud!”, “A thousand years ago there were no Jews in Germany—Germany’s glorious period, but since then the Jews have completed the ruin of Germany,” “Only Nazism can save you”; and “Give the Jewish system notice to quit on March 5th”.
