The annual Jewish National Welfare Fund drive opened here today.

Judge M. C. Sloss, president of the Fund, in announcing the opening of the drive, said that the bulk of the $200,000 quota would be given to the alleviation of sufferings of Jews driven from Germany by the Hitler regime.

Rabbi Irving F. Reichert of Temple Emanu-El is campaign director.

“Last year,” said Rabbi Reichert. “the fund exceeded a quota of $350,000. Because of existing conditions and not because the need is less the fund this year has been set at $200,000. We must achieve it.”
