For the second time in the history of New Jersey, there will be a Jewish Associate Justice of the State Supreme Court, for the State Senate has confirmed the appointment by Governor Moore of Joseph B. Perskie to the high judicial office.
Justice Perskie, who since 1926 had been City Solicitor (Corporation Counsel) of Atlantic City, where he long has been active in Republican politics, now achieves a distinction gained only by the late Justice Samuel Kalisch, of Newark, who in 1912 was named to the Supreme Court bench by Governor Woodrow Wilson.
The son of pioneer farmers at Alliance, N. J., Mr. Perskie was born in 1885 and has been a member of the bar for 25 years. From 1916 to 1926, he served on the Atlantic City Board of Education and in the latter year was named City Solicitor. Later he also was appointed a Special Master in Chancery Court. He subsequently was appointed and re-appointed a member of the special committee for uniform legislation in the United States.
