Attempts by Jewish lawyers to establish arbitration courts for the settlement of disputes between Jews were checked today by the Nazi government, which made it clear that all legal disputes must be handled by the regular government courts. The purpose of the proposed arbitration courts was twofold, first, to avoid, under the present circumstances, the bringing of Jewish disputes to the attention of the general public; and secondly, to provide some means of livelihood for Jewish lawyers, since all local courts have now informed the Jewish lawyers who remain in practice that any attempt on their part to appear and handle cases in court will be useless.
