Oscar Wasserman could not preside at this week’s meeting of the Deutschebank, of which he is the principal director, it was learned from reliable sources. Although it was officially stated his absence from the meeting was due to the state of his health, it was learned that Herr Wasserman was prevented from attending because of the fact that he is a Jew, and will be unable to attend, any meetings in the future for that reason.
For the first time since the Nazi Government came into power, the Union of Chain Store Owners was reconstituted yesterday. Most of the Jewish members of the organization were excluded from the presidium several weeks ago, but the elections yesterday made the management of the body completely free of Jews. This second meeting was due to Nazi dissatisfaction with the fact that all Jews were not excluded, whereupon the Nazi commissar, Wagner, ordered the reelection, giving the names of the candidates for the executive board who were to be redesignated.
