Three Jews were among those receiving high honors on the occasion of the King’s birthday celebration today. Samuel Gluckstein, treasurer of the London County Council; Major Henry Lyons, Liberal politician, and Charles David Seligman, honorary consul for Austria and member of the advisory committee on export credits of the guaranty department, were knighted.
The practice, established in 1929 of not awarding orders to members of the Palestine civilian population was continued this time. Among the other honors on the King’s list was the naming of Lieut. General Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope. High Commissioner of Palestine, as Knight of the Grand Cross of St. Michael and St. George.
Michel F. Abcarius, senior assistant treasurer of the Palestine administration, who received the honorary Order of the British Empire was the only Palestinian honored.
