Nazis’ Readmission of Jewish Lawyers Merely Legal Fiction

The so-called reinstatement of Jewish attorneys, widely heralded in the German press and by Nazi apologists, will become, openly, a mere farce on Monday when at the first constitutional meeting of the association of lawyers and court officials it will be reorganized as a full-fledged Nazi organization. The Minister of Justice has declared “I expect that the meeting will resolve itself unanimously as a Nazi organization of court employees.”

The reinstatement of Jewish lawyers in certain categories is revealing itself as nothing more than a diplomatic move to pacify public opinion abroad, and without practical results here so far as the Jewish lawyers are concerned.

As evidence of this, not only have various Nazi bodies openly ordered their members and German ### counsel, but even municipalities have ordered their institutions and component departments not to use Jewish lawyers “in order to keep the German courts clean.”

NO LIST TO BE ISSUED

Publication of the list of Jewish lawyers who have been readmitted to the courts is definitely undesirable in the eyes of the Prussian Ministry of Justice, according to the Nazi Party press department today. This announcement is taken to mean that even the readmitted Jewish attorneys will not be able to practice unless they submit proof of their eligibility on appearance in court. This involves enormous trouble and is an almost impossible task.
