The Palestine Government has under advisement and is contemplating shortly a loan of several million pounds for the development of Palestine partly on the basis of the plan submitted by Lewis French Director of Development in the Palestine Administration, but also including funds for other purposes, it was learned yesterday.
Jewish circles, which believed that the French plan had been abandoned by the Government, are greatly excited at its reported revival at this time. The French report was never made public, but it was generally known to follow closely that of Sir John Simpson, which aroused a heavy storm of protest. The report is believed to point out that there are no state lands available for Arab and Jewish settlement and that settlement of Jews by the Government is a remote possibility.
