Declaring that the “economic situation of world Jewry” makes such leadership as his essential, the newly-organized City-Wide Committee of the American Palestine Campaign, representing every section of Greater New York, drafted Nathan Straus, Jr., as Chairman of the American Palestine Campaign of New York at an executive meeting held at the Aldine Club, Tuesday evening, it was announced yesterday.

The meeting at the Aldine Club also marked the inauguration of a new method of Palestine fund-raising in New York City. Hitherto, the campaign has been divided along sectional and borough lines. This system has been abandoned in favor of a Greater New York simultancous effort, which is to be administered by a Committee of One Hundred, who will be assisted by other local leaders.

Resolutions were also adopted urging Louis Lipsky to accept the National Chairmanship of the American Palestine Campaign and calling upon Dr. Chaim Weizmann, former President of the World Zionist Organization, to visit the United States.
