Abraham Stavsky, young Revisionist who is being held in connection with the murder of Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, will appear today before the British Magistrate in Jaffa, at which time the police will ask that he be remanded into their custody for a further period, it was learned here. The evidence against Stavsky not yet being complete, police state that they require more time for concluding the investigation.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency has learned that the report published in yesterday’s editions of some Palestine newspapers to the effect that Stavsky would be formally charged with murder today was premature. Only a remand will be sought tomorrow, it was definitely established.
Meanwhile a cook in a Jerusalem restaurant has come forward with an offer to give evidence that Stavsky dined in his establishment between 8 and 8:30 p.m. on the Friday night Dr. Arlosoroff was slain. On the other hand, there are a total of six witnesses who claim they saw Stavsky in Tel Aviv shortly before the murder.
Three prominent Palestine lawyers, Messrs. Horiwitz, Ellash and Bernard Joseph are following the case as representatives of Mrs. Arlosoroff, widow of the murdered man, who is slowly recovering from grief and shock as a result of her husband’s murder.
