Eretz Israel is without a doubt the one bright spot in the Jewish world today, stated Mrs. Archibald Silverman, of this city, who has just returned here from a five-month visit to Palestine. There is a shortage of labor and building materials in Palestine, she declared. Hundreds of houses are in the process of construction in Tel Aviv and Haifa to accommodate the thousands of new Jewish settlers in Palestine, she said.
Mrs. Silverman stated that the Jews in Palestine are contributing generously to the relief campaign for German Jews. She also reported that she had never seen any spectacle carried off with more dignity than the funeral of Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff. Over 70,000 persons crowded into Tel Aviv where, on Allenby Street, every roof, balcony and window, and all the sidewalks were filled with sorrowing thousands.
Mrs. Silverman, who is active in Zionist circles, said she will not be able to attend the World Zionist Congress in Prague this year.
