Rabbi Max Merritt, in charge of Hillel Foundation activities at the University of California, is being mentioned as the likely successor of Dr. Rudolph I. Coffee, who resigned recently as rabbi of Temple Sinai in Oakland. No selection has yet been made.

Business and professional men of all denominations, gathered at the Oakland Hotel with other leaders of the community at a farewell banquet tendered to Rabbi Coffee, praised him for his service to the community along social welfare, civic and religious lines, and wished him god-speed.
