The two-day trial of the eight Austrian Nazis who placed a bomb under a Viennese Jewish cafe where a Zionist lecture hall was situated, revealed the fact that if the bomb had exploded, the entire street would have been destroyed.

Five of the Nazis were sentenced from three months to two years imprisonment and the other three were acquitted.

The Austrian Nazis have been carrying on an extensive campaign of terror designed to frighten the Austrians into accepting Nazi rule and to discredit the Dollfuss regime, now in power. Most of the reports from Austria have minimized the bombing outrages saying that in practically all cases, the bombs were harmless and mostly noise makers. The Dollfuss government has retaliated by passing laws outlawing the Nazis and imprisoning many of their leaders.
