Professor David Katz, eminent German-Jewish psychologist and professor at the University of Rostock, who with twelve other German professors was to have participated in today’s meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, at Leicester, failed to arrive.
None of the German professors here for the meeting could advance any reason for his absence.
Professor Katz was to have delivered a lecture before the Association, foremost British scientific organization, on the Psychology of Needs.
The English press suspects that the German government prevented Professor Katz from going to England, being unwilling to have a German Jew represent German science abroad, and refused to grant him an exit visa.
Professor Katz was born in Kassel, Germany in 1884. Since 1922 he has been professor of experimental psychology at the University of Rostock. He is regarded as an authority in this field and is the author of several volumes on the subject.
