A Jewish student, denied the right to complete his education in Germany by the Nazi regime, will be brought to the University of Minnesota and given a scholarship. Selection of this particular student is being made now through the Institute of International Education by a committee headed by Professor R. A. Gortner of the university department of bio-chemistry.
The plans to befriend some Jewish student were made known by Lotus D. Coffman, president of the University, after Jews here and of St. Paul had raised $1,200 to provide for the scholarship. As soon as the student is chosen, funds will be cabled to Germany and he will be brought to the university in time to start work in the fall term.
Mrs. Arthur Brin and Amos Dinard, prominent Jewish communal workers, were the leaders in the work of gathering the scholarship fund.
