Outdoor performances of the pageant, “The Romance of a People,” at the Polo Grounds, have been cancelled on account of inclement weather, it was officially announced.
Through the courtesy of Governor Herbert H. Lehman, the 258th Field Artillery Armory, Kingsbridge Road and Jerome Avenue, the Bronx, has been made available for the production, and the performances will be given there at dates to be announced later.
The date of the first production will probably be September 23, it was stated. All tickets issued for outdoor performances will be honored at the armory shows.
The armory is one of the biggest in the country and will have the same scenery and equipment for the pageant as was prepared for the Polo Grounds.
