In an attempt to avert the anti-German boycott, particularly the pronouncement of a “cherem” or sentence of excommunication which orthodox rabbis here contemplate, Rabbi Hildesheimer, German leader of the Agudath Israel, organization of orthodox Jews, has conferred with Elijah Mazur, president of the Warsaw Jewish community and members of the rabbinate and the community. His efforts, however, were reported to be fruitless.

Despite this failure, the German rabbi, evidently on orders from the German Government, is remaining in Poland and will continue his efforts.
