The refusal of J. Emmet Hayden, Acting Mayor and chairman of the Citizen’s Committee, to consent to a display of the Nazi Swastika, threw a snag in the plans for the annual German Day celebration by the United German Society.
Louis E. Felmer, president of the Society, announced that the Swastika was to be displayed as a sign of respect to the German consul who is scheduled to deliver an address at the celebration. Mr. Hayden announced that he will not approve anything but the Stars and Stripes
