Resolutions to carry on an intensive boycott of German goods and to combat anti-Semitism in the Province of Quebec, were adopted Sunday at the conference for the formation of the Eastern division of the Canadian Jewish Congress.
Sixty-four organizations and representatives of the Jewish communities in Quebec and the Maritime provinces participated in the conference.
A special committee was formed to organize and consolidate the boycott movement and also a special propaganda bureau for the purpose of offsetting anti-Semitic agitation.
I. Rabinowitch, editor of the Montreal Jewish Eagle, who spoke on anti-Semitism in Quebec, pointed out the necessity for a campaign of enlightenment and judicial action against the instigators of anti-Jewish incitement.
The conference also adopted a resolution favoring assistance for the settlement and colonization of Jews in Palestine.
Chaim Greenberg of New York, editor of Der Kaempfer; S. W. Jacobs, member of the Canadian Parliament, and other local leaders, addressed the conference.
