New Discriminations Are Being Enforced Against Jewish Students in Reich

Even Jewish students who are German citizens must appear at the registrar’s office and have their admission cards specially stamped, authorities at the University of Berlin ordered yesterday. According to this new innovation all Jewish students must have a specially stamped certificate of admission. Those to whom the certification will be refused will not be allowed to attend lectures.

The Nazi student association ordered its members to break off relations with Jewish students who are coaching them in their studies. From now on Jewish coaches will be prohibited.

The state of Lippe ordered all schools in the state to introduce the science of race. All pupils must pass examinations in the new science after taking the course.

German Jews have been prohibited from changing their names, shortening them or adopting Christian names, it was announced today. In commenting on the new rule, The Voelkischer Beobachter, expressed the hope that the day would come when the Jews would have to carry special names “which will distinguish them as the yellow badge worn by them in the Middle Ages distinguished them.”

An order was issued yesterday prohibiting the publication of special directories in which only Aryan firms are listed.

The orders issued by the Ministries of Labor and Economics prohibiting the boycotting of Jewish firms have met with much opposition from the Nazis. One of the many ways in getting around the orders was to circulate special listings of commercial firms from which Jewish businesses were omitted.
