In a statement issued last night and addressed to the Arabs, the Vaad Leumi, the Jewish National Council, stressed the benefits of Jewish immigration into Palestine as a constructive factor in the economics of Palestine. The statement contrasted the position of Palestine with that of neighboring countries, from which the Arabs are coming to Palestine and pointed to the employment obtained by the Arabs on the Jewish estates.
The statement also emphasized the 225,000 increase in the Arab population in the period of 1922-1931, the general progress of the country and the great treasury surplus, due to Jewish enterprise.
The Vaad Leumi appealed to the Arabs for peace and understanding in the harmonious upbuilding of a common prosperity.
The statement also called upon Jewry in the Diaspora not to be dismayed by allegations of agitation at present, and to accelerate efforts for immigration into Palestine and for the upbuilding of the country.
