The artistic work of Arthur Szyk, famous Polish illustrator and portrait painter, will be placed on exhibition in the Brooklyn Museum for three weeks beginning Nov. 26.
The exhibition, which was borrowed from English galleries by the Federation of Polish Jews in America, sponsoring the enterprise, will give Americans an opportunity of viewing the well-known series of illuminated manuscripts done by Mr. Szyk. Included among the titles of manuscripts bearing Szyk illustrations, are “Washington and His Times”, “Statute of Kalisz”, “The Last Days of Shylock”, “The Epic of Simon Bolivar”, “Chanson de Roland’ and “Covenant of the League of Nations.”
The artist studied under Bachet and Royer in Paris, Axentovitch in Cracow, was under arms four years during the War and later resumed his studies in Paris under Decour.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
