The appointment of Henry Morgenthau, Jr., as Under Secretary and Acting Secretary of the Treasury by President Roosevelt last week is described as a long step toward complete “control of the money of the world” by Jews, in the current issue of The Silver Legion Ranger, weekly newspaper published here by William Dudley Pelley, violent anti-Semitic leader.
A front page story in the four-page newspaper says that in Jewish circles “it is possible to hear comments concerning world dominion of the Jews in the field of finance or economics. They have wound around curves of a long long trail to reach this point.”
The story quotes the notorious “Protocols of Zion”, supposed international gospel for the Jewish people in which plans are laid for the complete domination of world monetary affairs by the Jews.
“The world control of gold,” continues the story, “by Jews is explained in Protocol Number 22 of the Protocols of Wise Men of Zion, ‘We hold in our hands the greatest modern power—gold; in two days we could free it from our treasuries in any desired quantity’.”
Later in the article, the Silver Ranger writer says:
“The German people came under the economic slavery of Jewish bankers. By a system of financial pyramiding, interlocking directorates, allocation of spheres of influence, credit extended through state-subsidized land banks, control of cooperative societies and the machinery of distribution and marketing, social insurance schemes, money inflation, the Jewish powers attempted to strangle the German people.”
The leading story on the front page of The Silver Legion Ranger carries the headline “Russia Recognized; Gates Opened Wide to Red Invasion”, and is followed with the announcement that “Facts About Jewish Russia Would Cause Revolt at President’s Action Toward Recognition If Accurately Known to Americans.”
More than a dozen columns are devoted to Russian recognition, and “Jewish Communistic plans to seize the food supply of the world.” One story assails “simple-pated Americans” who expect “red terrorists” to be “nice”.
“The most dastardly tragedy ever perpetrated upon the American people is being enacted in Washington in these fraught weeks, with malice a forethought, by a set of political officials blithesomely entrusted by an adolescent electorate with the destinies of the American people,” the Silver Shirt publication declares.
