Plans are under consideration by Supreme Court Justice Mitchell May, president of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities, and Arthur Garfield Hays, member of the international commission which recently held an impartial trial of the Reichstag arson trial defendants in London, for the formation of a committee whose object will be to fight the effects of Hitlerism in America.
Announcement was made at a dinner of prominent members of the New York bench and bar held at the Astor, that a committee of five will be named by Justice May and Mr. Hays. The committee will also give consideration to the matter of providing relief for lawyers in Germany, both Jewish and Gentile, who have been deprived of their means of livelihood by the Nazi repressions. The meeting had been called by the American Jewish Congress.
