Speaking at the dinner at the Book-Cadillac Hotel here which closed the sessions of the Catholic Conference on Industrial Problems, Dr. George Hermann Derry, president of Marygrove College of Detroit, attacked the Swope plan for control of industry and made the charge that “a few international Jews hold a stranglehold on the world supply of gold that enables them to decide the destiny of nations, to make and unmake cabinets, and to rule the fate of mankind.”

When a demand was made by Dr. Leo M. Franklin today that Dr. Derry produce proof of his charges, he refused to do so and said that he did not have to do that—that he had the proof himself and that was sufficient.

On previous occasions, Dr. Derry attacked the Jews when referring to Communist Russia, blaming Jewry for Communism, and always referring to “those Jews.”

Feeling runs high here in resentment against Dr. Derry’s statements, and a group of leaders is planning to press the issue and to demand proof or an apology from Dr. Derry.
