Today’s funeral of the two victims of the vicious attack by Cuban soldiers and a mob of Negroes on Cuban Jews, Mottel Turtshinsky and Julio Kleinsdorf, was turned into a mass demonstration of sorrow by Havana Jewry. Funeral services were held at the Havana Jewish Center and the funeral cortege was accompanied by practically all the Jewish population of Havana.
The juridical committee of the Jewish community intervened energetically with the Cuban military authorities. The committee was also promised the help of the French legation, but French diplomatic officials expressed themselves as being extremely pessimistic as far as any action is concerned.
David Blis, president of the juridical committee, in an interview with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, declared that Havana Jewry could expect further disturbances and more victims if the general strike, proclaimed for tomorrow, goes into effect.
The condition of Moishe Kriwcher, reported fatally wounded Sunday in an attack on his shop, is growing better and attending physicians declared that there was hope that his life might be saved.
