A program for organized Jewish philanthropy in this country, revised and adapted to meet the changing needs of the day, will be discussed at the first national assembly of Jewish federations and welfare funds to be held at the Standard Club here on Saturday and Sunday, January 6 and 7. Sol M. Stroock, former president of the New York Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, will preside at the banquet which is to open the conference, and will deliver the keynote address.
The relationship of governmental and private communal activities under the New Deal, the functions to be performed by each in the light of increased public appropriations for relief and welfare work, as well as the distinctive responsibilities of Jewish philanthropy, will occupy the attention of the assembly as it considers a nine-point calendar prepared for the meeting.
