The Leipzig Fair remains the only trade and commerce exhibition in Germany to which Jews are admitted as a result of a government proclamation today making all fairs and bazaars, “brown fairs” as the purely “Aryan” exhibits are described. Jews are not permitted to display their wares at the “brown fairs.”
Since much of Germany’s commerce is conducted in the bazaars and fairs held in every province and district, the decree is bound to have much effect on the Jewish economic situation.
The Leipzig Fair is exempted from the ruling, presumably, because it is so completely dependent on foreign patronage. The fair has been hard hit by the foreign boycott despite assurance of the authorities that Jewish foreigners attending it would not be molested.
