JEWISH GROUP REFUSE HELP
Representative Samuel Dickstein, charman of the House Committee on Immigration and Naturalization, in an interview demanded answers to these questions and to the best of his ability rendered his own tentative answers.
”I haven’t enjoyed at bit of cooperation from the three leading Jewish grops conducting their individusl investingation of Nazi afairs,” he complained.
”Not that I need their help,” he added, ”but if their work is to be effective it must be produced now. Congress will soon finish its business, and their evidence is frame it.”
Dickstein said that while he is getting little cooperation for Jewish societies he is geting plenty of copposition from Jewish societies he is getting planty of opposition. ”They are almost as bad as the Nazis,” he said ”in withbolding information.
ANTI-NAZI INVESTIGATIONS
”I know that at least three Jewish organizations have had large taffs of workers digging up evidence against the local Nazis, on the them having about twenty men on its payroll. I could have coorperated with these Jewish bodies quite readily by furnishing them and through the ivestingation and throught the exchange of information, but some of them indicated a willingness of work with me or to enourage my investingation.
”I understand these organizations have secured tens of thousands of signatures protesting Nazi activities in this country why don’t the send them to the President of the United States while their submission will still do some good?
”I cannot undersand the attitude of the group,” he said ”That there is somthing wrong with some of them leaders is quits obvious.”
The Congressman said that the Nazi threat to American civilza tion has not dimnished during the last few months, but rather that panded and its center gon westward.
CALIFORNIA NAZI IN COURT
In Dickstein’s possesion is a trencript of the testimony in the court action between two Los Angeles Nazi factions, opn headed by a Captain Schmidt, the other by a Captain Pape, for rigts to the charter of the Legue of Friends of New Germany.
”Among the disclosures made by California Nazis,” Dickstein said ”is sworn testimony within the Natoinal Guard property.
”The court record also shows that they have been tought by imported Nazis to regard their oaths of allegiance to the United States government as a ”more for mality’ wich will gain for them special privilgeges in this country.
”In Californa, particularly in los Angeles, the Nazis have held parades led by Nazis have brownsirts from German ships in the parbor They have been drilled with real arms, and many of them use Nazi unforms imported from Germany
”The Nazis in Callfornia, according to sworn testimony, have instituted a plan for organized agitation in this country for a government similar to that in Germany, excluding all Jews and Catholies from office and embracing a pogrom against these sects,” Dickstein said.
The Congressman expressed the opinion that his resolution calling fro an appointment of a special committee to investigate Nazi affairs in this country will be passed in Congresss during the next Week.
