Mandel Widow Dies of Heart Attack in Chicago Residence

Mrs. Blanche Rosenblum Mandel, 54, widow of the late Frederick Leon Mandel, who was chairman of the board of Mandel Brothers store, died suddenly in her apartment last night as the result of a heart attack described as coronary thrombosis. She was in a Loop theater when she was stricken. Her son, F. L. Mandel, who was with her at the time, rushed her home and called Dr: Benno Bernheimer. He administered emergency restoratives. She died soon afterward.

Word of Mrs. Mandel’s death was immediately cabled to another son, Leon Mandel II, of Guatemala. Funeral arrangements may be delayed until his return, it was indicated. He is expected to fly back.

Mrs. Mandel was born in Chicago as was her late husband. He died in Paris, France, September 20, 1930. He was the oldest son of Leon Mandel, pioneer Chicago Jewish merchant, and one of the founders of Mandel Brother in 1855.
