Detauks of a new French committee that will study means of introducing new industries into Frace, with the advice of exiled German-Jewish specialists, were described to the Jewish Daily Bulletin, yesterday, by Earon Pierre de Gunzbourg.
the Comite d’ Etudes Inndustrielles et# Commereciales (Committee for commercial and Industrial Study) was organized about three weeks ago, and will be dirrected by Baron Alfred de gunzbourg, Dr. Groneman, and Mr. Colm. the German Jewish specialists who have been expelled from their nativbe land will make reports and help create in France those industries and manufactures that have hitherto been almost a monopoly o Gernany. Thus the refugees, who now find it diffucult to secure employment in France, will he given work that would in no way compete with present French industry, explained the Baron. French workers will also be employed.
These new indistries will compete with the industries of Germany, and at the same time will be of commercial value to France, Baron de Gunzbourg declared. Many will be chemical manufactures, in which Germany has excelled up to the present time.
“The French public is at the present time favorable to the Jewish refugees from Germany,” said Baron de Gunzborg, “but the directors of the French Relief Committee fear that the continued immigration will provoke a wave of anti-Semitism, especially if highly-trained Jewish specialists replace French workers to any extent. It is for this reason that the new Committee is of importance. Industries and manufactures that will be created will not it any way compete with existing French companies.”
Only a small amount of funds has been subseribed, he said. Capital for creating factories and other business enterprisees will be obtained as in any other ordinary business enterprise.
