A NEW RHYTHM

A new tythm of life is pervading and changing the East. Age-old traditions are crumbling down, the unrest and the spirit of activity of Europe and Norht America have conquered the world. The modern network of rapid transportation changed the relationship between Ortient and Occident. It has mobilized an apathetic and socially quiescent world and will continue to do this in a still more intensive way during the coming years. The great change in the East is not always realized, but it makes itself felt more and more in world relations.

The East is determined, as a spokesman of the Turkish government put it “to be outdistanced by no people in the world in capacity for civilization, in activity and in independence”. There is a far way still to go to this goal, but during the last fifteen years the Orient started at least on the road towards the goal and is marching from year to year with more confidence and with better equipment.
