Conference Sunday to Study Refugee Aid

More than 1,500 delegates representing 1,800 Jewish organizations in New York City will participate in a city wide emergency conference to be held on Sunday afternoon at the Hotel Pennsylvania,to deliber ate on methods of encouraging the settlement of German Jewish refugees in Palestine.

The conference,arranged under the auspices of the Council of Jewish Organizations on Palestine,of which George Z.Medalie,Jacob Fishman and Dr. Samuel Margoshes are the leaders,will mark the first time that all of New York’s Jewish communal,franternal and religious bodies will meet as a single unit to consider the German Jewish problem.

Declaring that “the response that the call for the conference has evoked has been unprecedented in its unanimous expression of cooperation the importance of the conference.

It in expected that the meeting will go on record as declaring itself fully in agreement with the plans of the Jewish Agency for Palestine to settle German Jewish refugees in Palestine and that aid will be volunteered for the forthcoming National Emergency Campaign.

Among the speakers will be Nathan Straus,Jr., Judge Jonah Goldstein,Judge Benjamin E. Greenspan,Herman Bernstein,Max Silverstein and Simon Goldsmith.
