Green to Talk in Garden Rally Against Hitler

The the name of organized labor, william Green, president fo the American Federation of Labor, yesterday announced his organization’s co-sponsorship of “The Case of Civilization Against Hitlerism” to be presented March 7 in Madison Square Garden Samuel Seabury, political reformer and jurist, will declare the collective indictment of civilization against Nazism.

The laboring people who place a very high value upon the enyoment of freedom and who cherish the principles of democracy as a priceless heritage are amazed at the reports which reach them showing the assault which is being made upon the exercise of ordinary elemental human rights of those in charge of government in Germany. The persecution of Jewish people who resided in Germany was followed by an atrocious attack upon the German trade unions and their officers and memebers. Those responsible for these atrocities stand condemned before the world.”

The A. F. of L’s joint review in association with the American Jewish Congress, of the acts and policies of the Third Reich, marks the anniversary of Hitler’s election to power on March 5 of last year.

TESTIMONIAL AT ALDINE CLUB

The testimonial dinner to be tendered to William Green Wednesday evening, by a non-sectarian committee of 1,000 men and women prominent in social, political and professional work, in appreciation of the labor leader’s services in marshalling the forces of organized labor in support of the anti-Nazi boycott, will be held at the Aldine Club, 200 Fifth avenue, instead of at the Hotel Roosevelt, the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League to Champion Human Rights, sponsoring the dinner, annouced yesterday.

James W. Gerard, former United StatesAmbassador to Germany, will be toastmaster of the dinner. Principal speakers at the dinner will be Abraham Cahan, editor of the Jewish Daily Forward, Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia and Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver of Cleveland.
