Several hundred representatives of various societies and lodges of Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Utica gathered at the Beth Hamidrash Hagodol determined to map out place for the Mizrachi Palestine Fund and Keren Torah V’Havodah campaign in western New York.
Rabbi Wolf Gold, president of the Mizrachi Organization of America, declared that the rebuilding of Palestine according to traditional Jewish is the only solution of the Jewish problem. He lauded the work of the Hapoel Hamizrachi, the Mizrchi pioneers, in Palestine.
“The Mizrachi,” he said, “is not waging a negative campaign against the Keren Hayesod or any other Palestine fund.”
Others who addressed the conference were Harris L. Selig, executive director of the Mizrachi Palestine Found campaingn; Mrs. Abraham Shapiro, president of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of American; Seymour Mr Zambrowsky, executive director of the Mizrachi Youth of America; Rabbi Israel Goldin, Rochester; Rabbi Moses Berman, Rochester; Rabbi A. Z. Kurtz, Rochester; Isaac Zascks, Utica; Rev. I. M. Bernson, Utica; Mrs. Ruth Orenstein, Buffalo; Max Fagin, Buffalo; Rablli M. J. Braudy, Syracuse; Alex Greeson, Syracuse; Rabbi Louis Sobel, Buffalo. Hyman Kolko was chairman.
The following officers wer elected: Max M. Yellen, Buffalo, regional chariman; Symour M. Zambrowsky, executive secretary; Jacob S. Hoolander, publicity chairman; gegional co-chariman; Max Fagin, Buffalo; Mrs. Ruth Ornstein, Buffalo; Irving Haber, secretary; Hyman Kolko, Mrs. M. Amenbaum, Rochester; Alex S. Greeson, Syracuse; Mrs. Isaacs, Syracuse; J. Leo Feigenhaum, Syracuse, secretary; Isaac Zacks, Utica; Mrs Gestlich, Utica; secretary.
The campaign is scheduled to begin on February 11.
YOUTH MAS MEETING
An open mass meeting of the Youth Division of the American Jewish Congress, Eastern Parkway zone, will be held at the Brooklun Jewish Center, Thursday evening . Speakers are Justice Mitchell May and Profesor Albert Brandt.
