Anti-Semittism has become increasingly evident here since the first of the year particularly in the provinces.

Throughout the downtown district of Mexico City itself, posters bearing the slogan, “Si es judio esmalo,” have appeared on the walls of buildings and sides of buses. According to rumor, these posters are the result of a personal disagreement between a Jewish firm and a Mexican competitor. The slogau may be interpreted “if it is Jewish it is bad” or “if he is a Jew he is bad.”

Organization meetings of the Foreigners’ Defense Center are being held under the leadership of Adolfo Sanchez of New York, who is friendly to the Jews. Moises Rosenberg, editor of the Yiddish weekly, “Der Weg,” charges that anti-Semitic propaganda is paid for by competitors of Jewish firms, and that a program of advertising by Jewish firms in Mexico would help to counteract the bad impression that has been made.
