A most complete expose of the Jewish situation in Germany during 1933 is to be found in “Das Schwarzbuch, Tatsachen und Dokuments,” (“The Black Book, Facts and Documents”) , issued by the Committee of Jewish Delegations in Paris. The volume, which contains 536 pages,gives a well-authenticated survey,largely based on German sources-German newspapers, governmental Jews from the German economic system,officialdom, professions, universities, theatre,films,and newspapers,is described in detail. It is by far the best documented and most valuable publication to appear so far, and will prove of interest to all those who are following the developments in Germany.
The book was initiated by Le Motzkin, the founder of the Committee of Jewish Delegations and ,until his death on November 6, 1933,its indefatigable leader. Dr. Nahum Goldman is Mr. Motzkin’s successor and president of the Committee,and deserves credit for the early publication of this invaluable compilation.
Germany does not seem to be satisfied to do away with the Christian religion because of its Jewish orign, but must also make an attack on monogamism.A supplement of the Goettinge Zeitung entitled “Die Frau in Heim and und Beruf”( The Woman in Home and Profession), quotes in its is sue number 42 the following sentences from the book o the German philosopher,Professor Ernst Bergmann,”Erkenntnisgeist und Muttergeist” (“The Spirit of Knowledge and Motherhood”):
“Monogamy for lifetime is against nature and harmful to the race out-and among human beings it#unfor#nately always the case-the race must suffer. In a well-oranized State,the woman who has not given birth is dishonest.There are willing and zealous men and boys to take care of the existing women and girls, and fortunately one energetic fellow would be enough for ten to twenty giris who have not yet filled their desire for children,if and unnatural cultural nonsense about monogamous permanent marriages did no exist.”
Those who attended the reception in honor of Ely Elliot Palmer, American Consul General at Jerusalem, Monday were particularly impressed by the remarks of the British Consul General at New York, Mr. Gerald Campbell, Fine wit, thoughtful observance of the world’s events and a sympathetic spirit towards Jewish efforts in Palestine,were evident from Mr. Campbell’s statements. Mr. Campbell’s words wishing consul General Palmer godspeed, desribing the plight of the men in the diplomatic service who are transterred from place to place,and his sincere expressions with regard to developments in Palestine, were heard with interest by his audience.Mr Palmer’s simple statements were also appreciated by every one present, who felt that the new Consul General will be a genuinely conscientious representative of American interests in Jerussalem.
According to Achin Goerke,head of the Racial Department of the German government,there are three million Jews and persons of Jewish origin in Germany. The Racial Department recently announced an archive has been established containing the names and genealogy of about three million persons. Every Jew, and everybody of Jewish origin, is Listed on an index card system. Another archive contains thirteen thousand names which sound German and are used by Jews. A staff of 870 officails investingates the birth registers of the various towns in order to discover those Jews who became converted to Christianity,and to investigate teh origin of “Aryans” who have Jewish or Biblica names.Everyone not in a position to prove his purely “Aryan” origin as far back as January 1, 1800,is considered “non-Aryan.” This date was cohsen because, before 1800, the Jews lived in ghettos and mixed marriages did not take place.
“The American broadcasting companies are jumping quite out of their sikins in their anxiety for foreign ‘attracions.’ Hitler and Dollfuss have become their ‘stars’ and are permitted to tell the most outrageous lies quite freely over the radio, no effort being mode to label the lies as such on the spot,” declares Jacob Fishman in the Morning Journal, commenting on a situation calling for attention.
“Sunday,for example,the new ‘butcher’had the range of America’s air thanks to the boot blacking policies of the two great chain broadcasting companies. Each word uttered by Dollfuss was a dastardly lie. No workers were attacked,but a ‘small band of fanatics.’And the government did not begin the massacre,but the government was attacked…
“why do thes sinister spirits of the world deserve the hospitality of the American broadcasting companies in any case? Would Hitler or Dollfuss have permitted an American politician who wished to criticize their evil rule to broadcast in their countries ?
” It is said that the broadcasting companies receive millions of letters in which their listeners express their opinions on ‘Amos and Andy’and the ‘Goldbergs.’ It might be reasonable for all Jewish listeners to a man to write letters to the companies and tell them what they think about those evil ‘attractions,’ Hitler and Doll fuss.’
