Flathush Jews Prepare to Aid Reich Refugees

The flatbush Jewish Community will hold a campaigh dinner at the Capitol Club, 1260 Ocean avenue, Brooklyn, Saturday evening, March 17, as the beginnig of its efforts to bring immediate aid to German Jewish refugees through settlement in Palestine.

Elaborate preparations for the dinner are now in progress with all sections of the Jewish community, prominent Jewish leaders and communal, fraternal and religious organizations coomperating. Samuel Schleimer, chairman of the Flatbush Division of the $2,000,000 National Emergency Campaign for the Settlement of German Jewish refugees in Palestine,said that never before in the hestory of Flatbush Jewry has sokeen a desire for unity been manifested by all factions in the community as in the present drive for the relief of Germen Jewry.

“The Jews of the world look to Palestine to provide the solution for the German Jewish problem. The Jews of Flatbush must take full cognizance of the many opportunities that Palestine offers the German Jewish refugees and exert all their energies to make alvailable resources for the settlement of a maximum number in the Jewish homeland,” Schleimer declared.

The principal speaker at the dinner will be Charles Edward Russell, noted author and President of the Pro-Palestine Federation. Other speakers will be Justice Mitchell May, honorary chairman of the Brooklyn division of the Drive, Aaron W. Levy, borough chairman, Mrs. Harry H. Tracey, chairman of the Women’s Division and Assemblyman Albert D. Schanzer, honorary chairman of the Flatbush Division.

Prominent Flatbush Jewish leaders actively engaged in the preparations for the campaign are Max Kiss and Isreal Katz, honorary chairman of the Flatbush Division, Jacob S. Barshay, Samuel Berson, Reuben coblens, Louis Gordon, Isaac Joffe, Daniel Kohan, Jacob Roth, vice-chairman, Frank S. Berson, Chairman of the dinner Committee and Barnet Finkelbrand, Treasurer.
