“Yes, I’m in perfect accord with Lord Marley’s idea concerning the settling of Jewish refugees in Biro-Bidjan,” said former Representative William W. Cohen following a luncheon yesterday with the British labor leaders.
Mr. Cohen, provisional chairman of the committee to advance the Jewish project in the Soviet, said that Lord Marley’s proposal was not only a hope of salvation for persecuted Jews, but that all civilization would benefit by the creation of an autonomous Jewish republic in the U. S. S. R.
Lord Marley expects to return to England early next week to resume his duties as Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords. As chairman of the World Committee for the Relief of Victims of German Fascism, he has just concluded a tour of America. He advocates Biro-Bidjan as a haven of refuge for exiled Jews and liberals.
