A dinner celebrating Nat Holman’s fifteenth year in basketball was held last night at the City College Club, 106 West 55th street. Among the speakers were President Frederick B. Robinson of City College, Benny Friedman, George L. Cohen, James Freeman, basketball coach of St. Johns; Maxwell F. Marcuse, Dr. William E. Grady, and Richard Meehan. Judge Peter Schmuck was toastmaster and Rabbi Louis I. Newman offered the invocation. Arthur Taft was chairman of the committee on arrangements.
Holman, who is thirty-seven years old, is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He is director of athletics of the 92nd Street Y.M.H.A., and has written a number of articles and books on basketball. He was captain of the Original Celtics, the world’s champion professional team, and is at present head basketball coach at C.C.N.Y.
