A total excess of income over expenditure amounting to pound914,124 ($4,570,000 approximately) for the first nine months of the fiscal year is reported in the Palestine Gazette. The cash surplus during December, 1933, was pound119,000. Income for the nine months amounted to pound2,790,000 and expenditure to pound1,876,000. The bulk of revenue was from customs duties, license fees and taxes, while the largest item of expenditure was on the police and the military forces. Palestine spent pound131,000 on the Trans-Jordan Frontier Force, which is not stationed in Palestine. The Public Works Department spent over a quarter of a million pounds, and the Education Department spent pound127,000 during the period of nine months.
