A program of educational activity for the forthcoming year was outlined at the third annual convention of the Federation of Jewish Junior Associations at Keneseth Israel Synagogue.

This organization has grown from a small group of less than 500 members to its present enrolment of 2,000 youn men and women representing seventeen synagogues in Philadelphia, according to the annual report presented by Irvin J. Kopf, retiring president.

In addition to a series of open forums in which students of Jewish affairs will discuss important problems, a Dramatic Alliance contest is being planned for the latter part of April.

The morning session was given over to reports on the various committees and to an address by the guest speaker, Edwin L. Rothschild, who, recounting his own war experiences, showed that militant action was necessary to preserve universal peace. A resolution was adopted pledging the Federation of Jewish Junior Associations to the furtherance of the “interests of universal peace, and to work for complete disarmament and the furtherance of such relations as will establish cooperation, mutual trust and friendship among the nations of the world.”

The afternoon was given over to a series of open forums where the following subjects were discussed: “What Youth Can Do to Help Combat Anti-Semitism,” led by Howard Fineshriber; “The Activities of the Junior Group,” led by David Wachtel; “The Relation of the Junior Group to the Synagogue,” led by A. Lewis Lichtenstein; “The Relation of the Federation to the Community,” led by Rosalie Seltzer.

A resolution was adopted congratulating President Roosevelt on the successful completion of his first year in office.

Bernard Karmatz, newly elected president of the National Young People’s League of America, addressed the assembly at the closing session in the afternoon.

The regular sessions were followed by a dance in the evening.
