A return to barbarism is the ultimate goal of the Hitler regime in Germany, declared James Waterman Wisc, editor of Opinion, in an address here before the Kirshbaum Center forum.

Asserting that Htiler is striving for the suppression of all individual freedom, Wise expressed a hope for the eventual success of American recovery activities, but warned the gathering of a long period of economic readjustment. He pointed out the dangers of adopting the policy of regimentation and of blaming minority classes for undesirable conditions.

Mr. wise, the son of Rabbi Stephen S. wise, discussed the maintenance of Jewish tradition. The Jewish race cannot be assimilated by other races, he maintained.

” The Jew must learn to stand on his own feet and say to the world, Accept me as I am,’ ” he said, hailing the value of the Zionist movement and urging the importance of the setablishment or a national home for the Jews of the world.
