“The Background of Recent German History” and “The High Commission for German Refugees” were discussed by Professor Frieda Wunderlich and Professor Joseph P. Chamberlain before a meeting of the New York section of the National Council of Jewish Women at 1 East Sixty-fifth street.
Professor Wunderlich who left Berlin six months ago, outlined the economic aspects of German history which led to the present political situation. Professor Chamberlain, American delegate to the governing body of the High Commission for German Refugees, said that “the difficulty is not in helping Germans to leave Germany, but in fitting them into a new country.” He suggested that those groups which were working for the settlement of German refugees consider first the importance of supplying jobs for which they would be suited.
