Mme. Earnestine Schumann-Heink who arrived here yesterday from the west coast, has accepted an invitation extended by the Non-sectarian Anti-Nazi League for the Defense of Human Rights to sing at a concert in Carnegie Hall on April 22.
In a telegram to Ezekiel Rabinowitz, secretary of the League, Mme. Schuman-Heink wrote: “I will be happy to play for the cause.”
Other artists scheduled to play for the fund which will be used in strengthening the anti-Nazi boycott, include Mischa Levitski, pianist; Mischel Piastro, concertmeister for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra; Henri Deering, pianist, and Horace Britt, cellist.
Mrs. Altan Hirsch, of New Rochelle, is chairman of the committee arranging the concert. Others are Mrs. Lillian Patterson, Mrs. Edward Lazansky, Mrs. Mary P. Fitzpatrick. Honorary committee chairman are Mrs. Fiorello H. LaGuardia and Mrs. Julian W. Mack.
