One B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation will be closed, another opened, and Jewish student groups at nearly 100 universities will be linked with Hillel work, it became known following a Chicago meeting of the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation Commission.

It is at the University of West virginia, where Jews number only about 100, that the foundation will be closed and moved to some Eastern or Southern university.

A full-time director will be named for the foundation at Northwestern University and an associate director is to be appointed for the University of Illinois which is now the center for national Hillel work. It was also decided at the meeting presided over by Alfred M. Cohen, head of B’nai B’rith, to develop a system of syllabi, pamphlets and reading lists to be forwarded to Jewish groups in university centers.

Dr. A. L. Sachar, national director of B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundations, who actively directs the work at the University of Illinois, reported on his first year in office. He referred to the development of “defense technique” made necessary by spread of anti-Semitism.
