Emphatic in their view that Nazi and similar propaganda constitute a challenge to Jewish life in this county, officers of Ezekiel Lodge, B’nai B’rith, at a conference with representatives of other groups at the Ezekiel home, announced the launching of a $10,000 drive to further the activity of the order’s anti-defamation service.
For more than a score of years the anti-Defamation service has been one of the leading projects of B’nai B’rith in counteracting offensive propaganda and defending the Jewish name against discriminatory tactics. In view of the fact that many of its findings have been of a confidential character, comparatively very little publicity has been given its activities.
Mayor Ellenstein, a member of the lodge, will serve as honorary chairman of the local effort. Charles Manshel, an officer of Ezekiel Lodge, who presided at the conference, will be the active chairman, and Bernard Miller will be treasurer and chairman of the initial gifts. The climax of the local appeal will be a dinner on April 23 at a place to be announced soon.

Speakers at the conference included Manshel, Shehan, Levinstone, Finkel and David Kantorowitz. The speakers made laudatory references to Nazi exposes now under way in various periodicals, notably the magazine Today.
