Current economic and social problems will be the principal subjects of discussion at the New York State Conference of the National Council of Jewish Women to be held in Syracuse on April 15-17. Prominent among the speakers will be: Rabbi Morris S. Lazaron, of the Baltimore Hebrew Congregation; Mr. Leo W. Schwartz, director of the New School for Jewish Education; Mrs. Mary G. Schonberg, executive secretary of the Council; Mrs. Jules Hart, National Chairman of Field Service for the Council; Mrs. Rebecca M. Seligman, member of the National Board; Mrs. Abram A. Arons, Chairman of the Steering Committee on Membership and Finance, and Mr. Lisle Burroughs, Field Representative of the New York State Temporary Relief Administration.
The program of the conference begins on the evening of the fifteenth with a message from the Council women, and an address by Rabbi Lazaron on “Living Together in a Democracy,” An open forum will be held on the ensuing day on “The Place and Opportunity of the Local Section of the National Council in its Own Community,” with Mr. Burroughs as principal speaker and Mr. Fred Muhlfolder as discussion leader. In the evening there will be a banquet, at which Mrs. Schoenberg will speak. On the final day, a forum study of “Minority Rights and Race Relations” and the election and installation of new officers will take place.
Among the present officers of the Conference are: Mrs. Judah Dresner, President; Mrs. Mortimer Brenner, Vice-President; Mrs. Maxwell Erlich, Corresponding Secretary, and Mrs. Harriet Grussner, Recording Secretary.
